Hunter is a researcher whose work has focused on the intersection between labor and social justice. In 2025, he received his doctorate in world history from Northeastern University where his research examined how working people struggled against management in textile factory towns in the United States and Mexico during the early nineteenth century. Before joining CLU, he worked as a researcher at the Just Transitions Lab at the University of California Santa Cruz and the Worker Institute, particularly on projects related to environmental justice, labor-climate policy, and labor standards in the renewable energy industry. His writing has appeared in The Journal of Industrial Relations and volumes from Cornell University Press and Bristol University Press.
