Luisa joins Community Labor United with a commitment to collective power, bringing years of experience in organizing and social research with both community and labor organizations. Some of her most exciting work so far has included: advancing a groundbreaking union contract campaign with E-ZPass Workers United of the Communications Workers of America, Local 1102; volunteering with a variety of social change organizations and coalitions over the years promoting tenants’ rights, climate justice, and the solidarity economy; and conducting action research with the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative to explore how creative participatory democracy could strengthen capacity for community control over development.
Luisa was born in São Paulo, Brazil and grew up in Miami, FL. She enjoys sunshine, singing, bicycling, and community-building. Luisa holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Amherst College and will soon be receiving an M.A. in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University.
